“With Pipedrive's sales process, it's about putting the here and now in place”

Adam Graham, Managing Director at Grey Matters
Grey Matters is a business development consultancy. We help many agencies businesses in the creative sector to grow, to attract new clients and to win new business.

For us, having a really regiment fixed sales process is vital. It's really important that we practice what we preach and that's what led me to bring in Pipedrive as our main CRM. It was the fact that it was so customizable and it's that ability to just tag somebody, or a prospect, or a client as something and you can do that within seconds. And that's sort of ability to add to the different data inputs and sources has meant that we can now analyze our customers and prospects in different ways, and that impacts the strategy that we use.

With sales process and with Pipedrive, it's about putting the here and now in place, and what you can focus on. So, you can focus on reaching out to people, making calls, sending out emails, you can focus on the follow-ups and if you focus on those things, the rest will take care of itself.

If you can see deals in there, then you know that you're going to be focusing on converting those deals. If you can't, then it's about increasing the pipeline and the number of opportunities you've got. Just the mere process of putting in the data, putting in the notes is the key to building a long-term sustainable pipeline.

We were using Pipedrive for around about 18 months and really seeing the benefits from that. We've increased our conversion rate from 20% to 30%, and that's about us focusing on the right deals, the right kind of customers to close. Pipedrive's made a big difference to actually how we report. So we've now started adding fields such as when the business was founded, size the business, turnover. This enabled us to understand conversion rates and where we might be more successful. And so we can market differently to those people. And also, it's notified us where we're less strong, and that's actually enabled product development.

A lot of customers come to us, and they ask, you know, 'how do I build a pipeline? How do we get in front of customers?' And I say to them, you know, none of the prospects they're reaching out to are necessarily in the market for what they want. So, it's not a case of, them not wanting to buy your services, it's just that they don't want to buy your services now. And that's the whole point of the CRM. If we saw the benefit from it, we thought our customers are going to see the benefit from this as well. So, we started recommending Pipedrive to a lot of our customers. We'd say about 80% of them have embraced it and taken it on board.
